Chloé Fernandez
PhD Student
Chloé is a PhD candidate at the University of Valencia, Spain, specializing in marine ecology and genetics. She holds a Master’s degree in Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution with a specialization in Tropical Aquatic, Coastal, and Island Ecosystems from the University of La Réunion, France.
Her current research focuses on the detection of marine vertebrates in the Western Mediterranean using environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis, as well as species-specific detection of cetaceans through quantitative PCR (qPCR) assays. Chloé’s work is driven by a commitment to non-invasive monitoring techniques that enable the study of species without disturbing them in their natural habitats, with the aim of improving conservation strategies for marine biodiversity.
