Ignacio de Saint-Malo

Ignacio holds a BSc in Marine Biology and an MSc in Marine Vertebrate Ecology and Conservation from the University of Exeter. As an early-career researcher, he has developed a keen interest in conservation-focused and inclusive research. He has undertaken scientific endeavors across Panama and Cape Verde with the NGO MarAlliance, focusing on megafauna baseline assessments, movement analysis, industrial and artisanal fisheries, and large-scale coral reef surveys. He has worked alongside diverse stakeholders, including governmental agencies, scientific institutes, indigenous communities, and traditional fishermen.

Despite his broad scientific background, Ignacio’s primary research interests lie in integrating marine spatial information, advanced ecological modeling, and novel oceanographic products to develop adaptive and innovative ecosystem-based management and conservation strategies
